Taiyuan Wusu International Airport – TYN Airport
Taiyuan Wusu International Airport or TYN is the largest airport in the province of Shanxi. The airport is located in Xiaodian District, Taiyuan. It is the focus city for two airlines, namely China Eastern Airlines as well as Hainan Airlines. TYN is ranked as the 28th among the busiest airports in China.
Best Time to Visit
TYN Airport was first built in 1939. Since then it has evolved into one of the most important airports in the province of Shanxi and also one of its busiest. The airport has connections to most of the major cities in China and was also able to serve as Beijing Capital International Airport’s diversionary airport. It performed this function notably well during the Beijing Olympics in 2008. The airport has undergone an expansion starting March 2006 that cost CNY 1.57 billion and was completed later in the following year. The expansion enabled the airport to serve 6 million passengers in a year. Nearby cities namely Xichu, Xuguo, and Yangwushang among others are some that are able to enjoy the services available in TYN Airport.
What to Do & Area Attractions
While Taiyuan Wusu International Airport is among the most important in the province, it has yet to have an onsite airport hotel. There are, however, several hotels located within a short driving distance from the airport. Taiyuan Economic Development Area Atour Hotel is a simple hotel that offers clean accommodations and very well situated for sightseeing. This hotel is only 12 minutes away from the airport. The Grand Metropark Wanshi Hotel is an upscale business hotel that offers good rooms with plenty of in-hotel restaurants. This hotel is a short 27-minute ride away from the airport. The closest airport to TYN is Changzhi Airport, which is just 2 hours away.
