Victoria International Airport - YYJ
Victoria International Airport is located 12 miles from Victoria, British Columbia in Canada. The bulk of the airport is located in North Saanich in the Saanich Peninsula. A small portion of the airport’s airfield extends into Sidney. It is operated by the Victoria Airport Authority and is owned by Transport Canada. There are numerous flights to the Vancouver International Airport, which serves more global routes. This international airport also offers seasonal flights to resort towns in Mexico. Aside from Victoria, the Victoria International Airport also serves the cities Burnaby, Langley, Richmond and more.
Best Time to Visit
The airport began operating in 1939 when it was just a grass strip and used as a military airfield. It used to operate under the name Patricia Bay Heliport. It was renamed to the Victoria International Airport in 1959. The Victoria Airport Authority took control of the operations in the airport in 1997. Renovations began in 2000. The main terminal has nine gates, which have aircraft loading bridges. Wi-Fi Internet service is available throughout the terminal. It is provided by Telus.
