Zakynthos Airport – ZTH Zakynthos
Known as Zakynthos International Airport, this public airport is catering to domestic and international flight operations. Zakynthos Airport, with its IATA code of ZTH, is the only main airport serving Zakynthos, Greece. It is one of the 14 airports that undergo privatization agreement of Fraport to not only operate Zakynthos Airport but also develop and improve its facilities and enhance its services. The airport is currently situated near Kalamaki Bay. Due to its close proximity to the beach, flight operations are strictly prohibited between 1000H until 0500H the next day. During this time, the endangered loggerhead turtles would often lay their eggs in the area.
Best Time to Visit
Established in 1972, Zakynthos International Airport usually handles seasonal charter flights. It is served by a number of airlines like Austrian Airlines, Monarch Airlines, Ryanair and other seasonal charter flights that connect Zakynthos to other European Cities. In 2015, the government of Greece signed an agreement that would allow Fraport to invest in the redevelopment of the airport. The improvements of the airport allow the passengers' easy access to arrange local transportation, either car rental or taxis, that can take them to Laganas or Kalamaki.
