Newtown: A Packed Trip to Sydney
A suburb in New South Wales, Newtown, Australia was formed as a residential area thriving on agriculture in the early 19th century. Its name was taken from a grocery store that opened in the area during the same period. In 1862, it was incorporated as a municipality. The nearest airports are BWU-Bankstown Airport, Palm Beach Sea Plane Base (LBH), and Sydney-Kingsford Smith International Airport (SYD).
Best Time to Visit
Newtown has the perfect climate during the months of February through May and August through November. The busiest months are usually February, May, and August. Tourists are least likely to visit in July. Every November, the Newtown Festival is held. It has been offering live music, workshops, and many other activities since 1978 to bring the community together. Nonetheless, the main objective is to raise funds for Newtown Neighbourhood Centre (NNC). Meanwhile, every last Sunday of September, Feastability is held. It is a food and wine festival that aims to celebrate and promote Australian wines, and local and international cuisines. Over 40 vendors participate; and visitors get to enjoy all their offerings over fine entertainment throughout the day.
