Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC), also called General Electric Exhibition Centre, was once an exhibition and conference complex in the city of Aberdeen, Scotland, United Kingdom. The complex includes conference facilities and a multi-purpose arena, as well as Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express hotels. Within the last decade, AECC handled many local sporting events like tennis, wrestling, darts, and snooker, concerts for numerous major international artists, and music competitions like The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent. Trade conference and exhibitions were also hosted by AECC in the past years.
In 2019, Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre closed and was replaced by P&J Live, which is a multi-function indoor arena in Bucksburn that opened in the same year. Less than half an hour from the complex is the Codonas Amusement Park where the whole family can have fun with lots of great rides. And near the park is another beautiful attraction, the Cruickshank Botanic Garden which is perfect some relaxing nature strolls. To the north of Aberdeen is the village of Balmedie that is home to Balmedie Country Park that offers a long pristine sandy beach to enjoy. Around the centre are a lot of fine hotels, such as the Doubletree by Hilton Aberdeen City Centre. This 4-star hotel offers a fitness center, a laundry room, vending machines, free self parking, BBQ grills, restaurant and is pet-friendly. The University of Aberdeen Hillhead is also nearby, and features a garden, free internet, free parking and has a convenient store.
