Medina: A Picturesque Holy City
There are many things that Medina is known for, but one stands out and that is the city being one of only two holiest cities in Islam. Medina, also known as Madinah, is the capital of the Al-Madinah Region of Saudi Arabia. It is considered a holy place because the al-Masjid an-Nabawi or “The Prophet’s Mosque” is located in the city. This is the burial place of Muhammad, the Islamic prophet. The city is thick with religion and history and is a great place to visit when exploring the world. Best Time to Visit
Saudi Arabia is very dry, Medina is no exception. When visiting Medina, it is best to visit during winter around October and early March. It’s best to avoid the summer because it is extremely hot in the city. However, winter season is the busiest time in Medina so it might be hard to find good hotel deals.

Explore the city’s history and religion by visiting the Quba Mosque, one of the three historically important mosques in the city and also the oldest. The Prophet’s Mosque is also must-see destination as it is the city’s center for religious, economic, and political life. It’s also great to visit the Mount Uhud battle site, where Muslim defenders battled against the Makkan army back in 625 AD.
