The airport’s predecessor, Munich-Riem Airport was already operational from the years 1939 to 1992, but it wasn’t until May 17, 1992 that the new Munich Airport was first operational. The airport has two passenger terminals as well as a midfield terminal. It features two runways and extensive maintenance and cargo facilities. The airport is fully equipped to handle even the Airbus A380, a wide-body aircraft. This international airport features a Munich Airport Center or MAC, which is a shopping, recreation, and business area. It connects to the airport’s two main terminals. The MUC Airport is a preferred hotel by travelers coming from nearby cities namely Parsdorf, Hohenlinden, Mammendorf and the rest of the Bavaria district.
